Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) is urging all annuitants to register on the GIPF biometric system before the enrolment period ends on 28 February.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fund would like to take this opportunity to remind all our annuitants namely retired members, members receiving disability benefits, qualifying children and spouses of deceased members to visit any of the GIPF offices countrywide for enrolment which will end on 28 February 2023,\u201d the fund\u2019s Manager of Marketing Services, Amos Kambonde, said.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that all children receiving a pension need to be enrolled on the biometric system before the verification process can commence. This, Kambonde added, can be done at any GIPF office in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the enrolment period, the fund will request all the pensioners and beneficiaries to commence with the verification process which will be done three times a year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kambonde explained that all children annuitants and their guardians will be required to verify proof of life every four months to avoid the suspension of their monthly pension. Children annuitants, he explained, include the deceased\u2019s members minor children who are under the age of 18 as well as major children between the ages of 18 and 25 who are substantially dependent on the deceased member and are in full-time schooling.<\/p>\n

The pension of children annuitants who are younger than 18 years will be paid to their guardians. For this reason, Kambonde advised all guardians of minor children to ensure that they have submitted their guardianship certificates as failure of submission could result in non-payment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen claiming for children\u2019s pension benefit, the following documents must be attached to the claim form and must be submitted to GIPF: a full birth certificate, identity document of parent\/guardian, guardianship letter\/certificate, proof of banking details and contact details of the parent or guardian,\u201d Kambonde explained.<\/p>\n

Children annuitants who are between the ages of 18 and 25 years will receive their payments directly in their accounts. However, Kambonde explained, these annuitants will be required to provide proof of schooling from a recognised educational institution. This proof needs to be duly stamped and signed by authorised persons for each academic year that the benefits are claimed for.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe therefore call upon all qualifying children annuitants to submit their proof of schooling for the 2023 academic year to continue receiving their benefits,\u201d Kambonde said.<\/p>\n
