Africa-Press<\/a> – Namibia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Metal and Allied Namibian Workers Union (Manwu) leadership held a two-day meeting in Windhoek to review its policies and align them to current technological, social, and economical developments.<\/b><\/p>\n

The union general secretary Justina Jonas, says the review was necessitated by the economical developments which have impacts on their administration and operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe global labour movement is changing and these changes are related to technology, we can not do our business as in old times. We need to move with technology,\u201d said Jonas.<\/p>\n

She added that the Covid-19 pandemic has also had an impact on the union. For this, she says the revised policies will ensure that the condition of employment of Manwu staff is conducive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know that trade union work is the most exploited job in the world, meaning that union employees are expected to be activists but forgetting that they have family responsibilities to be taken care of,\u201d explained Jonas.
