Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) says it has the solution to Namibia’s socio-economic problems.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Thursday, the party said it has a comprehensive plan to address issues such as unemployment and corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IPC is committed to finding solutions that work for the people and to creating a better future for all Namibians.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne cannot eradicate poverty without creating an environment in which employment opportunities flourish.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeither can one create employment without ensuring a carefully harmonised monetary and fiscal policy designed to encourage and facilitate both domestic and foreign direct investment, aimed at value addition and beneficiation, which would address our terrible trade deficit and allow for economic growth with a reasonable trade surplus,\u201d the party said.<\/p>\n

The statement said the IPC plans to address corruption, which impedes economic growth and socio-economic development.<\/p>\n

It plans to implement a robust system of accountability and transparency to curb corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IPC knows that the deeply entrenched corruption in our fabric of governance cannot be eliminated overnight \u2013 that would be objectively and factually unrealistic \u2013 but by creating a culture of transparency and accountability,\u201d said the party, led by Panduleni Iitula.<\/p>\n

The party, which seeks to oust Swapo in the 2024 elections, hopes to create an environment of zero tolerance of corruption and in which economic growth triumphs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IPC also plans to invest extensively in education, which has been neglected in real terms appallingly, healthcare, which shames our hard-working professionals, and infrastructure to create jobs and improve the standard of living of all Namibians,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

The IPC also accused the government of shortsightedness and a lack of politics for failing to control flooding by harvesting floodwater in northern Namibia.<\/p>\n

The party said the government’s failure to make the necessary arrangements to harvest the floodwater, “especially when recent droughts devastated our people” is an example of a careless administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have all the scientific equipment to predict the floods, but our leaders are tone deaf. These are signs and symptoms of a looting regime having run out of ideas, steam, integrity and credibility, but which is competent enough to borrow more money for looting.\u201d<\/p>\n
