Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>DEBMARINE Premiership strugglers Citizens will soon enjoy the rub of the green too, perhaps this weekend already, says club chairman David Goagoseb. His team has been woeful so far this season, managing only two draws in 13 matches to hold up the log standings.<\/p>\n

They are 10 points worse off than second-last Eleven Arrows and Civics in 14th position, with nearly half the 2022\/23 campaign complete. An encouraging 1-1 draw against Young Brazilians on Saturday was followed by a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of runaway log leaders African Stars the following day.<\/p>\n

That poor form will soon be a thing of the past, Goagoseb declared ahead of away clashes against inconsistent Orlando Pirates and Tigers tomorrow and Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will turn the corner. There’s enough experience and ability to turn the tide. We’ve been here before and we turned things around,\u201d Goagoseb told The Namibian Sport yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are 17 games to go, anything can happen. I believe in the boys and that they can improve the current situation.\u201d Goagoseb said the uncertainty around the start of the league was to blame for their struggles.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is no secret that the way things started was chaotic. It was a haphazard thing. Somebody wanted to prove that they restarted football no matter what,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a matter of ‘we’re starting now. If you don’t join, miss out’. So, the start caught us off guard. But we will recover, and the results will come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, leaders African Stars will look to build on their 10-point advantage over next-best Life Fighters tomorrow when they play away to fourth from bottom Black Africa, who also host poor travellers Young Brazilians (YB) on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Second-placed Life Fighters have an off weekend, unlike Mighty Gunners in third who face Blue Waters and Eleven Arrows at Otjiwarongo’s Mokati Stadium in that order.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Okahandja United will welcome Eleven Arrows and Blue Waters to Nau-Aib Stadium at Okahandja. Young African are at home to Brazilians tomorrow, and so too are Tigers against Civics. Pirates versus Civics on Sunday completes the weekend’s line-up.<\/p>\n
