Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>EDUCARERS from early childhood development centres in the Erongo region are currently in the process of being trained on school readiness in preprimary pupils.<\/b><\/p>\n

Training in the Walvis Bay and Swakopmund circuits took place in September, while the Omaruru circuit, including rural schools in the Daures constituency, will receive training for November.<\/p>\n

The European Union make fund available to the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture for the training of preprimary teachers at government schools. All regions received a budget, but the Erongo education team channelled their leftover funds to private educarers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs most of our teachers in Erongo were already trained on the curriculum, we decided to train educarers at early childhood development centres. Not all five to six-year-old pupils got space in government schools. Therefore, we wanted to share the same content or preprimary curriculum we covered during training with early childhood development centres, because their children will go to government schools in Grade 1,\u201d senior education officer Jaline Oosthuizen says.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare identified 56 teachers for the training. \u201cI felt the training was productive and it helped me a lot in all areas. I am forever grateful to the ministry of education for going out of their zone just to help us,\u201d Sophy Afrikaner says.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was teaching my kids without a preprimary teacher manual and syllabus all these years. Now I will do my best in 2022 through the will of God. Thank you so much for [the] training,\u201d Lugambo Andreas says.<\/p>\n
