Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>GIRLS & Goals and Beauties Football Club took the lead in the FNB Women’s Super League after both collected maximum points over the weekend.<\/p>\n

After pulling off a 1-0 upset win against powerhouse Khomas Nampol 1-0 last weekend, Girls & Goals continued where they left off with successive victories against the visiting Arrows Ladies and Namib Daughters at the NFA Technical Centre.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, they received stiff opposition from Arrows Ladies, before running out 3-1 winners, while they eased to a 5-1 victory against Namib Daughters yesterday, after leading 4-0 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Against Namib Daughters, Tjamunene Ndjavera gave Girls & Goals the lead from the penalty spot midway through the first half, while three goals in quick succession by Beverly Uueziua, Beyonce Cloete, and Ndjavera’s second put them 4-0 ahead at the half time break.<\/p>\n

Ndjavera completed her hat-trick midway through the second half, before Moriza Gawanas added a late consolation goal for Namib Daughters.<\/p>\n

Beauties Football Club, meanwhile, joined them as the only other team with three wins from three matches after they collected maximum points against Nust Babes and V Power Angels.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, they beat Nust Babes 3-1, after leading 2-1 at half time.<\/p>\n

Beauties went 2-0 ahead after goals by Elwida Damases and Nizla Zaondja, but Kahutu Ngivitjita pulled a goal back for Nust Babes on the stroke of halftime.<\/p>\n

Beauties, however, secured the win after Damases scored her second goal midway through the second half.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Beauties beat the previously undefeated V Power Angels 2-1 in a heated match, with the former Angels striker Fiola Vliete scoring both goals against her former club.<\/p>\n

Vliete opened the scoring shortly before halftime and then added a second with a great corner kick. Anna Ida Somses opened the Angels’ account, but they could not get the equaliser in a tense final quarter, which also saw the Angels’ coach red-carded by the referee.<\/p>\n

V Power Angels, however, remain among the early pace-setters after thrashing Okahandja FC 7-1 on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Nancy Lebang and Anna Ida Somses each scored a brace, and Debora Vries, Uno Kaetjavi and Martha Shonena one goal each for the Angels, while Leena Alweendo scored Okahandja’s solitary goal.<\/p>\n

Unam Bokkies, meanwhile, get their campaign off to a good start after beating Ramblers 5-1 on Saturday, and Ongwediva Queens 3-0 yesterday.<\/p>\n

Against Ramblers, Taotago Afrikaner opened the scoring when she pounced onto a misguided pass to score from close range, while the impressive Hanavi Muhinatjo made it 2-0 with a great header just before halftime.<\/p>\n

Further goals by Afrikaner and Vekendisa Ujaha put Bokkies 4-0 up before Gwenneth Narises opened Ramblers’ account from a free-kick on 82 minutes.<\/p>\n

Unam, however, had the final say when substitute Pia Rottiger scored from a quick strike from the restart to hand them a commanding win.<\/p>\n

Following yesterday’s 3-0 win against Ongwediva, Unam Bokkies have now moved up to fourth position on the log on six points, behind V Power Angels on goal difference.<\/p>\n

After losing their opening match 3-1 to Girls & Goals last weekend, Khomas Nampol got their campaign back on track with a resounding 5-2 victory against Namib Daughters on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Helena Shuumbwa gave Nampol an early lead, but Moriza Gawanas soon equalised for Namib Daughters. That’s the closest they got though, as Nampol gradually pulled away.<\/p>\n

Faustina Amutenya restored their lead while Shuumbwa added her second to give them a 3-1 lead at the halftime break.<\/p>\n

Shuumbwa added two more goals in the second half for an impressive match haul of four goals, before Sanna Swartbooi scored a late consolation goal for Namib Daughters to make the final score 5-2 in Khomas Nampol’s favour.<\/p>\n
