Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>FORMER Democratic Turnhulle Alliance (DTA) parliamentarian Dino Stuart has died. He was 77.<\/p>\n

Stuart, who also served as DTA secretary general, died on Sunday at Walvis Bay.<\/p>\n

His son, Nazeem confirmed his father’s death to The Namibian on Monday.<\/p>\n

Nazeem said his father was a hard working and honest politician who fought for what was right.<\/p>\n

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, 11 March, at Walvis Bay.<\/p>\n

He is survived by his wife, children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Stuart served in the National Assembly from 1990 until September 1999.<\/p>\n

In October 1999, he resigned as the DTA’s secretary general citing a lack of democracy in the party.<\/p>\n

Stuart was born in Stellenbosch and lived in Walvis Bay Africa and Lu\u0308deritz.<\/p>\n

He was chairperson of Coloured Legislative Assembly between 1981 and 1985, and deputy speaker of the National Assembly of the South African-installed administration from 1985 to 1989.<\/p>\n
