Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, which recently set up shop in Namibia, has attributed recent bad publicity on the institution as a smear campaign conducted by people with malicious intent to tarnish its reputation. The university has, thus, urged eligible Namibians who meet all requirements to consider applying for admission.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is committed to ensuring that all due diligence is complied with in bringing education that will positively impact the youth, thereby the economic progress of Namibia,\u201d vice chancellor Hoze Riruako said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Riruako said there have been allegations in recent weeks that the establishment of the university followed corrupt practices and offers unaccredited programmes.<\/p>\n

Responding to these allegations, Riruako said the university applied for registration through the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), and approval was granted in 2019. He explained the university also applied for accreditation through the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been operational since 2020, at ERF 6005, Kornalyn Street, Khomasdal, Windhoek. The campus opened its doors for class commencement in July 2021 for the pioneer group of students in Namibia, and it is undergoing accreditation with NQA,\u201d Riruako said.<\/p>\n

He said the university submitted its application for accreditation with NQA in 2018 \u2013 and by submitting the application and necessary write-ups, he added the university is at an advanced stage of finalising its accreditations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe advanced stage of the accreditation process requires that the university be operational, and have classes running for NQA to conduct a site visit upon an invitation by the university,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He added there have to be students enrolled in these programmes and staff hired by the university for this process to take place. \u201cThe university operates franchised programmes, fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) with the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to Riruako, the university is committed to ensuring it complies with all processes as far as NQA accreditation is concerned. Riruako said the university\u2019s record of accomplishment in establishing campuses worldwide in Asia, Africa and Europe is proof that the education they offer is relevant in empowering youth with skills needed in the face of intense global competition today.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe university is recognised globally for its practical and entrepreneurial approach to education that creates a stimulating environment to bring out the best in the youth. In addition, the University is recognised as a TVET model University by ASIC, UK, for its successful systematic delivery of industry-relevant programmes globally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
