Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>JOSEPH Kauandenge, the secretary general of the National Unity Democratic Organisation, on Friday said president Hage Geingob has a “tired” Cabinet that lacks the stamina to challenge national issues.<\/p>\n

Kauandenge said Geingob failed to answer questions on important matters during his state of the nation address (Sona) on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I put to him was the fact that he has incompetent ministers in his Cabinet – some so old that they should have retired a long time ago.<\/p>\n

“They really lack the stamina, urgency and energy to address the many social problems confronting our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is clear that this Sona was a waste of time as the Swapo government clearly demonstrated that they have no solution to those many problems confronting our people.<\/p>\n

“We saw a tired president, who was not able to answer our questions with authority.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kauandenge said the Sona was an \u201cattempt to try to sell a picture to Namibians that they are in control, while clearly they have no response to the many social and economic problems confronting our people\u201d.<\/p>\n

During the question session, Kauandenge asked Geingob what programmes were in place to address the country’s high unemployment rate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president said they are waiting for the security cluster that will employ around 2 800 young people soon.<\/p>\n

“This again flies in the face of the president’s commitment to trim down the civil service, and now he is expanding it – contrary to his earlier statement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
