{"id":41836,"date":"2023-03-27T17:27:14","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T17:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/fresan-points-out-advantages-of-weather-stations"},"modified":"2023-03-27T17:59:56","modified_gmt":"2023-03-27T17:59:56","slug":"fresan-points-out-advantages-of-weather-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/fresan-points-out-advantages-of-weather-stations","title":{"rendered":"FRESAN points out advantages of weather stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy coordinator of the Strengthening and Resilience of Food and Nutritional Security in Angola (FRESAN), in Cunene, Juan Molina, pointed out this Friday the advantages of using automatic meteorological stations, in the collection of real data on rainfall and other occurrences.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion of March 23, World Meteorology Day, Juan Molina said that the stations help in the analysis of air temperature, speed and atmospheric pressure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are necessary tools for climate assessment, to facilitate, in a timely manner, alert communities about the occurrence of natural phenomena, due to constant climate changes\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that this year FRESAN installed two automatic meteorological stations, in the municipalities of Ombadja and Curoca, with funding from the European Union and co-managed by the Portuguese Institute, Camo\u0303es.<\/p>\n<p>Juan Molina informed that, still within the framework of FRESAN, six stations of the kind have been set up, two in Cunene, two in Hui\u0301la and the same number in Namibe, totaling 800 thousand euros.<\/p>\n<p>FRESAN is a program for the Strengthening and Resilience of Food and Nutritional Security in Angola, financed by the European Union, with a value of 65 million euros for a period from 2018 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Cunene province has 14 meteorological stations, nine of which are located in the municipality of Cuvelai.<\/p>\n<p>March 23, World Meteorological Day, has been celebrated since 1950.
