Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>NEARLY 140 pupils from Tutaleni High School were recognised for their hard work and achievements in the 2022 academic examinations.<\/p>\n

The ‘Tuta Airways’ prize awards ceremony, themed ‘Reaching Greater Heights’, was held at Walvis Bay on Thursday.<\/p>\n

According to Regina Dominika Limon, the event organiser and head of the department of languages at the school, the awards were given for good academic performance last year. The criteria for the awards were Grade 8 pupils who scored 75% and above, grades 9 and 10 pupils who scored 70%, and Grade 11 pupils who scored A to B symbols.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe awards were strictly for academic subjects, so other categories were excluded,\u201d explained Limon, adding that the awards recognised the three top-performing pupils in each grade.<\/p>\n

During the event, each pupil received a certificate, a shield and a floating trophy.<\/p>\n

Elise Kambindi, a Grade 10 pupil at the school, was the dux of the junior phase for grades 8 and 9.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was astonished. I had not expected this […] But I’m glad my efforts and sacrifices were not in vain. It was a touching moment,\u201d said Kambindi.<\/p>\n

Leon Liyebelo, the school’s head boy received the top performer award for Grade 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt proud because all my hard work and effort in my studies paid off big time. I’m overjoyed to have made my mother proud,\u201d says Liyebelo.<\/p>\n

Raygino Ortman, a second-year education student at the University of Namibia, was invited as motivational speaker.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor your accomplishments to be recognised this evening demonstrates that the sky is the limit. We’re celebrating your moon’s footprints. And this should not be done without considering what you may have gone through to get here,\u201d said Ortman at the event.<\/p>\n

He was excited about Tutaleni High School’s continued growth and urged pupils to remember to be deeply invested, courageous, and curious this academic year.<\/p>\n

According to the school principal, Vincent Gideon, the school hosted the event to recognise and appreciate the pupils’ hard work.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt also serves as motivation for them to work harder in order to achieve their goals,\u201d says Gideon.<\/p>\n
