Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE recruitment of 750 young Namibians to strengthen the national police force kicked off today countrywide and will end on 2 May.<\/p>\n

The exercise was first announced during the budget debate in the National Assembly as renewal and strengthening of law enforcement.<\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner Kaunapawa Shikwambi, head of the police\u2019s public relations division said that young men and women who meet the qualifications and are committed to policing are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

In parliament and at a police parade senior police commander and the minister, dr. Albert Kawana, stressed that police recruitment is not meant to be an employment project, but rather an exercise to strengthen and promote law enforcement countrywide.<\/p>\n

Quoting retired Lt.-genl. Sebastian Ndeituntungua Dep.-Comm. Shikwambi stressed \u201cthat the police do not want mere \u2018salary collectors\u2019.<\/p>\n

According to Shikwambi, prospective recruits are required to be in good physical and mental health and ready and able to withstand the demands of training to prepare them for national duty as representatives of law and order of the state.<\/p>\n

Other requirements include possession of a Grade 12 or 11 certificate with at least 25 points or higher in six subjects, including an E symbol in English, and good communication skills.<\/p>\n

Candidates must also be prepared to be deployed anywhere, even in remote areas away from home or place of origin.<\/p>\n
