Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) and the Impact Tank Analysis Foundation inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on creating transformative, self-sustaining digital programmes to accelerate employment in the digital and technological space.<\/p>\n

The partnership further aims to promote the acquisition of digital skills and establish Namibia as a participant in the global digital knowledge economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the Ministry of ICT, we are committed to continuously adding our part to transform our nation in ensuring that we have the necessary skills in the country to respond to the market needs. More importantly to ensure that the young people who are seen as digital natives have the opportunities to have digital skills to ensure that they are employed and self-sustaining,\u201d Emma Theofelus, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, said at the signing ceremony.<\/p>\n

Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Impact Tank Analysis, Elizine Mushambi, explained that the current economic climate poses challenges that require real world solutions, accelerated development and the inclusion of digital tools.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us at Impact Tank this collaboration does exactly that, the dent we will make in addressing unemployment particularly among youth will be far-reaching with its numbers and location. This collaboration further speaks to MlCT\u2019s role and commitment in not only speaking about tech, digitalisation and youth unemployment but practically doing the work and mobilising the necessary resources to ensure Namibians become digitally literate, have jobs that are future fit and can compete internationally. It is a pleasure and an honour as Namibia\u2019s only social impact venture builder to partner and deliver ventures that inspire our nation to look beyond our borders for growth,\u201d Mushambi said.<\/p>\n

MICT\u2019s Senior Public Relations Officer, Shoki Kandjimi, explained that this partnership will inspire digital transformation in Namibia by creating inspirational, self-sustaining social businesses that build and reinforce digital skills, generate income and bring national attention to Namibia and demystify and advocate for software development and higher-skilled digital work as approachable, viable and valuable career options, among others.<\/p>\n

The MoU will last for five years, subject to renewal.<\/p>\n
