Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE construction of water reservoirs at Oshakati is expected to boost the water pressure and supply to about 800 households in Ompumbu extensions 1, 2 and Ompumbu Proper.<\/p>\n

The construction of these bulk services including water tanks and supply pipelines is estimated to cost about N$8 million. During the site handover and start of construction today, town mayor Leonard Hango said the project should be completed by 23 May 2022.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that Oshakati town has 18 water reservoirs in the township to preserve and boost the water pressure during unforeseen crises. \u201cThis is the first step towards the servicing of Ompumbu. Other services like a water reticulation network, electrical works and sewage will follow soon after the completion of the bulk water supply,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The project bulk water infrastructure project comprises the construction of 250 cubic meters elevated and 500 cubic meters ground tanks, as well as the construction of a 1 300 km potable water supply pipeline from a NamWater connection point.<\/p>\n

Hango stated the project will also see the installation of booster pumps and the provision of electricity to the site. He said the tender of bulk services infrastructure was awarded to SOK Print Master and Construction cc.<\/p>\n

Managing director of SOK Print Master and Construction cc Sindano Amutenya said he will employ about 50 locals during the construction period. He added that he has been in the construction industry since 2010.<\/p>\n

\u201cI might also just complete the project before the expected time.\u201d<\/p>\n
