NamPower Senior Corporate Communication Officer Gladwin Groenewaldt said the electricity provider\u2019s 220 kV double circuit power line between Mariental and Keetmanshoop, which forms part of the 220 kV interconnector between Namibia and Aggeneys (South Africa), tripped at 12:47 on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Groenewaldt said a thunderstorm in the area caused structural damage to NamPower towers 20 km from Keetmanshoop when five electricity towers were blown over by strong winds.<\/p>\n<p>No customers were affected. NamPower dispatched a technical team to assess the situation, find a temporary solution and have the line back in operation while replacing the damaged structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will update our stakeholders on the progress of the restoration process once assessments are finalised,\u201d said Groenewaldt.<\/p>\n<p>Odillo Kgobetsi from the Namibia Meteorological Services confirmed there were heavy thunderstorms and wind in some parts of the country yesterday.
