Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Maria David THE much-awaited boxing exhibition fight between former world champion Harry Simon and an unknown name in boxing circles, Martin Shambo, which was scheduled for next month, has been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The boxing match between the two was proposed as a mere joke earlier this year following the emergence on social media of videos showing Shambo scuffling with male villagers on separate occasions.<\/p>\n

It was said that since Shambo was habitually behaving as if he was the strongest Oshindonga-speaking man, it would be fair game to summon Harry Simon \u2013 himself Omundonga \u2013 to come discipline him.<\/p>\n

Event planner Tanya Smith confirmed the cancellation to Informant\u00e9 on Tuesday, saying that Shambo\u2019s medical issues surfaced only recently when his doctor deemed him unfit for a boxing match.<\/p>\n

Smith indicated that Shambo is experiencing heart problems. It was therefore decided to call off the event and give Shambo time to concentrate on his health.<\/p>\n

Simon also issued a press statement confirming the bout\u2019s cancellation. \u201cFrom my personal experience one has to be in good health and fit in order to prepare for boxing or other sport activities,\u201d said Simon.<\/p>\n

According to Simon, Shambo\u2019s doctor will monitor his condition for the next six months and give his final report on his progress to see \u201cif he can fight me in the ring\u201d.<\/p>\n

Simon stated that for now he will concentrate on his fitness and see who else wants to bring the exhibition fight to the table. Shambo is a village headman, businessman, former police officer, and the son-in-law of late King Immanuel Kauluma Elifas.<\/p>\n
