Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>CRIMINALS used chemicals to drug residents in Ongwediva and steal diverse items valued at over N$14 000 from their house in the New Reception area when the house dwellers were fast asleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were four in the house at the time. We went to bed late, but that was not the reason we fell into a deep sleep all at once. We suspect that the criminals used a mysterious smoke to induce deep sleep before they entered the house,\u201d said one of the house-dwellers, who preferred anonymity.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred between 02:00 and 03:00 on Saturday. It is suspected that the criminals used an unknown type of gas. The thieves targeted mostly electronic appliances such as a TV set and mobile phones.<\/p>\n

A case of housebreaking was registered at the Ongwediva police station. A senior police officer confirmed that criminals do indeed use substances that induce deep sleep, but no detailed information is available yet.<\/p>\n
