Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Sport Desk After Namibia\u2019s historic Super 12 victory over Scotland, the Eagles today face Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC World T20 2021 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

In the first ever T20 meeting between the two sides, debutants Namibia are ready to face a spin examination, with Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman hitting the ground running in early Group 2 action.<\/p>\n

Senior Afghanistan batter and former skipper Asghar Afghan will play his final international match today against Namibia. According to TimesNewsNow of India, Afghan has confirmed his retirement from all formats of the game.<\/p>\n

Debutants Namibia are ahead of title favourites India and New Zealand as both teams were beaten by Pakistan in the Super 12 phase of the ICC World T20. Gerhard Erasmus-led Namibia side is heading into the fixture after defeating Scotland in match No.21 of the ICC World T20 at the same venue.<\/p>\n

With a solitary defeat and win in two Super 12 matches, the Afghanistan side is only ahead of third-placed Namibia due to their superior Net-Run-Rate.<\/p>\n

Following a crushing victory over Scotland to begin their T20 World Cup campaign, Afghanistan was overrun by Pakistan, toppled by a late-over blitz by Asif Ali. Afghanistan will hope to return back to their winning ways when the Asian minnows lock horns with the Eagles.<\/p>\n

Scotland suffered a devastating trounce at the hands of Afghanistan too in their Super 12-stage opener. The Nabi-led Afghanistan side was keen on pulling off an upset by upstaging Pakistan but their bid was thwarted by Ali\u2019s batting exploits in the death overs. With Afghanistan set to play India and New Zealand in their remaining fixtures, the Nabi-led side will have to register a convincing win over Namibia to keep their semi-final hopes alive at the ICC World T20. The game starts at 12:00 on DStv channels 221 and 232.<\/p>\n
