Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE adage \u201cnot all heroes wear capes\u201d is true.<\/p>\n

This remark surely relates to Usko Nghaamwa, the former governor of Ohangwena, who persisted to make sure that a Namibian child is given a nice environment to grow up in and pursue their education.<\/p>\n

The Omugwelume Secondary School chose to honour Usko Nghihepavali (UN) Nghaamwa despite the fact that he was not receiving any compensation for the assistance he provides to a Namibian youngster.<\/p>\n

This was done at the recommendation of the school board, teachers, and parents.<\/p>\n

This is merely done to serve as a reminder of the assistance Nghaamwa has provided to the school since 2017 when he decided to take it upon himself to help the school in whatever manner he could.<\/p>\n

Along with the renaming, the 256-learner school hostel was also officially handed over.<\/p>\n

Nghaamwa has been dedicated to the education of a Namibian child, thus it is worth commemorating the milestone today, according to school principal George Nanghanda.<\/p>\n

Nanghanda emphasised that the dream of the hostel is a brainchild of Nghaamwa when he visited the school in 2017 as the governor at the time.<\/p>\n

Ever since Nghaamwa\u2019s visit to their school, Nanghanda indicated that Nghaamwa\u2019s support and assistance started pouring into the school to date.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision was made in 2021 to have the school renamed and his name was overwhelmingly supported.<\/p>\n

Nanghanda indicated that they followed all the procedures and in February this year they were given the approval letter.<\/p>\n

The blessings, according to Nghaamwa, who accepted the renaming, should go to those who made it possible.<\/p>\n

However, Nghaamwa reassured the audience that despite receiving this acclamation, he is still a regular community member who is just like everyone else.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though I didn\u2019t receive an education, I\u2019m committed to making sure that Namibians are educated in all respects,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He then made plans to establish his education foundation in the future to help Africans everywhere and make sure they receive an education.<\/p>\n

Nghaamwa emphasized the importance of promoting education throughout all of Africa, saying that they need more than ever to invest in education for the future generations.<\/p>\n

Anna Nghipondoka, minister of education, in a speech delivered on her behalf, said that contribution made by Nghaamwa goes unnoticed and highly appreciated.<\/p>\n

Nghipondoka said that Nghaamwa is an outstanding leader, a son of the soil who not only has passion about education, but also diligently selflessly spearheads community development projects aimed at uplifting the lives of the Namibian people.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Nghaamwa donated to various schools in Ohangwena Region school needs valued at over N$2.4 million.<\/p>\n
