This achievement is significant, especially as it comes at a time when the world is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on freedom of expression.<\/p>\n

The presidency has expressed its delight in this achievement, noting that the media plays a crucial role in democracy and is essential in keeping the public informed and the government institutions accountable. As the fourth estate, the press is an important pillar of effective governance. Therefore, President Dr Hage G. Geingob has assured the media that he will guarantee freedom of the fourth estate for as long as he is the President of Namibia.<\/p>\n
