The groundbreaking ceremony for this project took place this morning, with Works and Transport Minister John Mutorwa as the keynote speaker.<\/p>\n<p>Mutorwa emphasized that infrastructure development serves as a catalyst for economic growth and social progress, and plays a significant role in attracting investments and enhancing global competitiveness. The DR3633 road links Tsandi to the Omugulugombashe settlement, which houses a National Heritage Shrine.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade is estimated to cost around N$35 million and is fully financed by the Namibian government through the Roads Fund Administration (RFA). Mutorwa highlighted the historical significance of the Tsandi-Omugulugombashe road as it leads to a National Heritage Site and Shrine. He said, \u201cOur goal is to ensure that every citizen is not only a beneficiary but also an active participant in such economic transformation and social change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mutorwa acknowledged that the development of rural feeder and access roads forms a strong foundation for the national economy. He urged the contractors to deliver a high-quality 24-kilometre road within the designated timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>Erginus Endjala, the Omusati regional governor, expressed the importance of the area, stating, \u201cWe value this place. It is our national shrine where the armed liberation struggle started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The upgraded road will follow the existing alignment as much as possible to minimize the environmental impact and project costs. The construction will be carried out in two phases, with one phase starting after the completion of the other.<\/p>\n<p>Kambwa Construction (Pty) Ltd is the main contractor, supported by two sub-contractors, namely Colas Namibia and Luka Roads Rail &amp; Civils.
