Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE United States (US) embassy in Namibia has announced that 16 participants across eight regions in Namibia have been selected to participate in the 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders in June.<\/p>\n

This was said in a media statement released by embassy spokesperson Tiffany Miller on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

US colleges and universities across 20 states and the district of Columbia will host leadership programmes for about 700 Mandela Washington fellows for six weeks.<\/p>\n

The programme will aid the development of fellows\u2019 leadership skills through academic study, workshops, mentoring, networking with US leaders, and collaboration with members of the local community.<\/p>\n

The fellows are Eunice Shapange (Oshana), Ngundambiriko Katire (Otjozondjupa), Kina Indongo (Khomas), Joseph Ndondi (Ohangwena), Nelao Immanuel (Khomas), Fredrick Shipipa (Kavango East), Beatrice Schultz (Erongo), Rosalia Joseph (Otjozondjupa), Ellen Nanyeni (Khomas), Ruben Ndatitangi Angala (Khomas), Beverlyn Ganes (Kunene), Romanus Kanyanga (Hardap), Fillemon Aupokolo (Khomas), Shange-Ndamona Mungoba (Oshana), Mose Ndjarakana (Khomas), and Laina Ndeshitila (Omusati).<\/p>\n

The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship program the Young African Leadership Initiative was launched in 2014 and embodies the US commitment to invest in the future of Africa.<\/p>\n

YALI was created in 2020 and supports young Africans as they stimulate economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance and enhance peace and security across africa.<\/p>\n
