Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE outgoing World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Namibia, Dr. Charles Sagoe-Moses, praised President Hage Geingob for being \u201ca voice of the voiceless\u201d when it came to securing vaccines for the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also recall that you were a voice of the voiceless when it came to vaccines when Namibia was ready with money to buy the vaccines. But because of the problems of vaccine inadequacy and shortages, we could not even get vaccines on time. And you spoke loud and clear. And you didn\u2019t even speak for Namibia, you spoke for Africa, you spoke for most of the developing world,\u201d Sagoe-Moses said.<\/p>\n

He made these remarks during a courtesy call with President Geingob, where he highlighted this as one of the successes Namibia achieved during the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides this, Sagoe-Moses also praised the president for leading the country through the pandemic. According to him, President Geingob\u2019s leadership had a lot to do with how the country overcame these difficult times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lost our friends, we lost health workers, but, Your Excellency, you were there and you provided all the support, and I personally learned a lot from your leadership by example. Being there to make sure that the people in Namibia were given all that they needed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, Sagoe-Moses said President Geingob was not only hands-on during the Covid-19 pandemic, he also played a significant role when the country had a Hepatitis E outbreak.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we had the Hepatitis E Virus outbreak, you were with us in the trenches, in the informal settlements. You were there walking with us, looking at the situation. I recall when we even had to go and do a clean-up service in the area, you were there. And this is leadership by example,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sagoe-Moses\u2019 feelings towards the president are reciprocated, according to the President, who also praised the outgoing WHO representative to Namibia for his bravery during the pandemic. The president emphasized that Sagoe-Moses worked without fear to find a solution to the Covid-19 pandemic, even when others were afraid.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he said, he wrote a letter to express his gratitude to Sagoe-Moses on behalf of the government and the country.<\/p>\n\r\n
