Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE First Lady of Namibia, Me Monica Geingos, who is greatly admired and loved, especially by the poor and marginalized communities of Namibia, for her compassion and generosity, wants Namibians to be mindful of the pain and suffering of others, regardless of the pain they may carry themselves.<\/p>\n

Me. Geingos extended her condolences and profound sadness on behalf of her family and the entire nation of Namibia to the family and people of the Kavango region for the loss of 15 members of the Kangungu family due to food poisoning over the past few days. The tragic incident occurred in the Kayova village, located in the Ndiyona Constituency.<\/p>\n

In the last 24 hours, the death toll from this heart-wrenching national tragedy has risen to 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a devastating loss, and I pray for the recovery of those who remain hospitalized. I stand united with all Namibians in expressing my heartfelt condolences to Mr Godfried Shishugho Kangungu and the entire Kangungu family during this period of indescribable grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kangungu family, their loved ones, the community of Kajova village, and all the first responders who are assisting the family,\u201d the First Lady said.<\/p>\n

Me. Geingos reminded the nation that amidst all the happenings in their personal lives, the country, and the world, it is easy to turn away from tragic news.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, today is not one of those days, and this profound loss has led me to deeply reflect on the fragility of life and the significance of caring for and showing kindness to one another as a community.\u201d<\/p>\n

She assured the community that she is in constant communication with the Governor of the Kavango East region to understand the immediate needs of the family so that she can contribute in the most effective way.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the same time, my office is ready to provide psycho-social support and trauma debriefing to the bereaved family, community members, and frontline responders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Me. Geingos expressed her desire for experts to launch an investigation into the tragedy, not only focusing on the food poisoning itself but also examining the preparation and all aspects surrounding the events that led up to this tragedy. This is not the first incident of its kind in the Kavango, Zambezi, and Kunene regions over the past years, and it is important to prevent a repeat of such a devastating loss of human lives.<\/p>\n
