Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Oshana police are facing challenges in providing adequate assistance to citizens due to a lack of vehicles.<\/p>\n

This issue was revealed by Police Commander Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria during various community meetings in the region.<\/p>\n

Sakaria mentioned that the current state of affairs has led to dissatisfaction among locals, as the police often arrive late at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we strive to deliver the necessary services, we are frequently hindered by these challenges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further emphasized the need for fully operational vehicles and maintenance of older vehicles to address these challenges.<\/p>\n

Skaria highlighted that once the vehicles are fixed, it will help ensure timely assistance to people in remote areas who require services.<\/p>\n

In addition to the transportation issue, Sakaria assured the public that they will soon address the personnel shortage within the police force.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that the recruitment of 750 new officers across the country comes at the right time, as many officers are approaching retirement.<\/p>\n

On April 3, 2023, the Namibian Police Force advertised vacancies for Cadet Constables with a closing date of May 2, 2023. The aim was to recruit approximately 1,000 Cadet Constables.<\/p>\n

A total of 42,967 applications were received nationwide, and from those, 2,398 candidates were shortlisted for the upcoming interviews, including 1,664 males and 734 females.<\/p>\n

This rigorous process ensures that only the most qualified and suitable candidates are appointed to the Namibian Police Force.<\/p>\n
