Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE European Union (EU) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) have trained over 200 female members of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to better manage their own affairs, communicate effectively, and lobby for funding for sustainability.<\/p>\n

These efforts were part of the EU and KAS\u2019 \u201cStrengthening the Roles of CSOs and Women in Democracy\u201d project. The project, co-funded by the EU and KAS, has been co-implemented by KAS and Women\u2019s Action for Development (WAD). KAS explained that the project aimed to empower women in CSOs from the Northern Communal Areas (NCAs), covering the Kavango East and Kavango West, Omusati, and Ohangwena regions.<\/p>\n

KAS explained that the project aimed to promote the active participation of CSOs and women in building inclusive and democratic societies. KAS added that this is part of the project\u2019s overall objective, which is to contribute to a vibrant and gendered democracy through the effective participation of women in Namibia\u2019s civic life.<\/p>\n

In addition to training over 200 women in CSOs, KAS revealed that the project has also awarded 192 certificates for training on the first three modules. These modules focused on organisational and administrative skills, financial literacy skills, public participation and engagement, communication, and influencing skills.<\/p>\n

KAS further revealed that the project has awarded an additional 200 certificates this week for successfully completed training on modules 4 to 6. These modules focused on project proposal writing, women, gender and gender-based violence (GBV), as well as women\u2019s rights and advocacy.<\/p>\n

According to KAS, the project has also strengthened over 46 CSOs as influential actors and equipped them to engage in improved dialogue with elected representatives to address issues concerning gender equality and GBV.<\/p>\n\r\n
