Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>WALDE Ndevashiya, the governor of Ohangwena, emphasized that socio-economic growth and social cohesion depend entirely on effective governance.<\/p>\n

Ndevashiya made these remarks during his State of the Region Address (SORA) on Monday.<\/p>\n

He said that in order to create an inclusive society, strong, accountable, and transparent institutions are necessary. These institutions should provide outstanding services, safeguard individuals\u2019 rights, and effectively combat corruption.<\/p>\n

According to Ndevashiya, during the 2022\/23 financial year, his office continued with Targeted Stakeholder Engagements and Consultations through community meetings in the constituencies. The aim was to assess the progress of various projects and programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring these engagements, my office has identified a number of challenges facing communities in different areas of the region, such as lack of potable water, inadequate access roads, insufficient state amenities, particularly clinics, schools, electricity, and poor network coverage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that to enhance effective service delivery and organized governance, his office has successfully moved to the Presidency, effective from April 1, 2023.<\/p>\n

Ndevashiya indicated that this move will enable his office to effectively execute its constitutional mandate.<\/p>\n

He further added that the move will enhance reporting channels and promote the principles of effective governance and accountability.<\/p>\n
