Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>After a three-year of hiatus, the much anticipated Nedbank CitiDash will return this year, with a huge number of participants expected.<\/p>\n

This will be the third edition of the event which is slated for 10 September in Windhoek.<\/p>\n

The first CitiDash was held in 2018 while the second took place in 2019 before Covid-19 abruptly stopped the event.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event will see the participants take part in the 10km CitiDash, which is for the elite runners , and five and 10km fun run and walk.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch yesterday, chief financial officer at Nedbank Namibia JG van Graan said he is happy to see the competition make its return after three years.<\/p>\n

He added that running plays a significant role in people\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so grateful to stand here before you this morning as we launch the 2023 Nedbank CitiDash. As you may all well know, we had to postpone this event for the past three years due to the Covid pandemic. However, we are glad to announce that we are back. Nedbank believes that running provides an opportunity to touch the lives of all Namibians. As a longstanding supporter of the sport, Nedbank is truly delighted to be the title sponsor of the third edition of the Nedbank CitiDash,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the last time the event was held in 2019, it had 2 500 participants, a number which exceeded their expectations.<\/p>\n

Van Graan said as sponsors, they registered double the number of entrants in this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, manager of OTB Sport Yvonne Brinkmann expressed her hope for another successful event. \u201cEvery year, this event brings us together in a way few others can.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just about the thrill of the race; it\u2019s about the shared spirit and camaraderie. It\u2019s a unique experience and one I have been looking forward to. I can\u2019t wait to see the sense of community this year\u2019s race will foster,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
