Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>VACCINATION uptake continues to increase as Namibia has recorded a total of 270 641 people currently fully vaccinated in the country.<\/p>\n

Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, added that to-date a total of 336 726 people have received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n

Of those figures, 59 108 have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is only administered as one dose, while 211 533 people are fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.<\/p>\n

Shangula said that the Erongo Region has the highest uptake of 23 207 people fully vaccinated, followed by the Hardap Region with 13 345 people fully vaccinated, while the Zambezi Region has the lowest uptake with only 3 532 fully vaccinated.<\/p>\n

Shangula also announced 18 new Covid-19 confirmed cases from 1 762 results in the last 24 hours reporting cycle, which represents a 1.0% positivity ratio.<\/p>\n

He noted that the sex distribution is 11 males and 7 females, with ages ranging is from seven-years-old to 52-years-old.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmong the confirmed cases are three learners from different schools, two teachers, one student and one healthcare worker. One case has received one dose (of the vaccine) and two cases have received two doses of Covid-19 vaccine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Shangula also reported two Covid-19 related deaths from two districts, adding that the deaths occurred between 1 and 2 November 2021 and none of the deceased were vaccinated.<\/p>\n

The number of active cases is currently 369, with six hospitalised, and none in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).<\/p>\n

A total 106 have recovered from Covid-19.<\/p>\n
