Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Sanlam Namibia last week donated blankets worth N$67 000 to the Oshakati intermediate hospital\u2019s psychiatric ward 16.<\/p>\n Sanlam Oshakati branch manager Abner Kalimbo said the donation was in response to a request from the health ministry.<\/p>\n \u201cSanlam\u2019s contribution aligns with its corporate social responsibility pillar under health and welfare, emphasising the promotion of physical and mental well-being,\u201d said Kalimbo during the handing-over event.<\/p>\n He added that the company firmly believes in collaborating with the government to ensure that citizens receive the care they deserve, enabling them to become productive members of society.<\/p>\n \u201cSanlam recognises that a healthy citizen is a productive citizen,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n Kalimbo said mental illness has rapidly emerged as a global emergency and it is thus crucial to provide comfort and warmth during winter to ensure the well-being of those battling mental health issues.<\/p>\n \u201cWe aim to raise awareness about the impact and extent of mental health issues in our society while helping to alleviate physical illness and injury surrounding these challenges.
