{"id":50484,"date":"2023-08-03T11:59:57","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T11:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/mobile-crane-plunges-to-destruction"},"modified":"2023-08-03T12:34:53","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T12:34:53","slug":"mobile-crane-plunges-to-destruction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/mobile-crane-plunges-to-destruction","title":{"rendered":"Mobile crane plunges to destruction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Floris Steenkamp<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>A 100-ton mobile crane plunged to its destruction off a cargo ship in the port of Walvis Bay on Sunday at 03:00, after what seems at this stage to be a result of the failure of lifting equipment attached to one of Namport\u2019s mobile cranes working on berth 1.<\/p>\n<p>The mobile crane was imported into Namibia and was offloaded from the cargo ship on Sunday morning when the incident occurred. A stevedoring company was responsible for the lifting equipment and attaching it to the crane, and an investigation is now ongoing by the Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) to ascertain who is responsible for the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The mobile crane was destined for a client in Namibia and will be the subject of an insurance claim.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures herewith: the mobile crane was totally
