Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The empowerment of women is a matter of fact in the Namibian police. This was proved, once again, by recent promotions in the Oshana Region when at least two senior female officers moved upwards.<\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa, who was the regional chief of operations, was promoted to the rank of Commissioner and transferred to the neighbouring Ohangwena Region as the overall regional commander, replacing another female senior officer, Commissioner Elizabeth Sibolile, who reached retirement age.<\/p>\n

Kashuupulwa\u2019s place in the Oshana Region was taken over by another female officer, Elizabeth Nashandi, who, as Chief Inspector, headed the Ongwediva police station. She is now a Deputy Commissioner.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the police\u2019s Oshana Regional Commander, Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, has appointed and promoted a number of police reservists during a ceremony that took place at the regional police headquarters on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Eight new reservists were inducted, and four old reservists were promoted to new ranks, the highest of which is that of Chief Inspector.<\/p>\n

Reservists are auxiliary members, recruited to serve as reinforcement to the police force in the fulfillment of their duties. They are volunteers who perform police duties for not more than ten hours a month.<\/p>\n
