Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Residents of the mining town of Arandis are urged to give their full cooperation to enumerators, who will be knocking at their doors this week for a local census by the town council.<\/p>\n The local census started on Monday and will end on Friday.<\/p>\n Mayor Risto Kapenda said council deemed it necessary to conduct the census to deliver on their mandate.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a crucial exercise, as it will help us to compile a numerical profile of Arandis, which, in turn, will be key in decision-making at all levels \u2013 both in government and the private sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Kapenda added that as part of the local economic development, the council, through the census, wants to understand the needs and local demands, as well as fair inclusion of all stakeholders in projects and future developments.<\/p>\n A total of 15 enumerators were selected and trained from the community. They are now tasked to collect the required data from the residents during the census.<\/p>\n The mayor said the town\u2019s vision is to be an independent and viable town that is known as a centre of excellence \u2013 a model town that is a platform for vital economic activity, placing its residents first, and being the town of choice to live in, adding that this can only be achieved through the collection of data that will be vital towards the cause.<\/p>\n He then appealed to all residents to cooperate and render the necessary support to the enumerators.<\/p>\n Kapenda also urged residents that this is conducted independently by the town, and that residents still need to take part in the national census that will start later this month.<\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About Namibia<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Eveline de Klerk Africa-Press – Namibia.
