Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Tsumeb Mayoral Relief Fund received a boost of over N$200 000 during a fundraising dinner held in the town recently.<\/p>\n

The fund, which was launched on Saturday by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations And Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, aims to assist in ensuring the development of the town.<\/p>\n

The Tsumeb Mayoral Relief Fund is targeting the most vulnerable residents of the town as part of restoring the dignity of the Tsumeb community.<\/p>\n

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the theme is calling for solidarity and social justice for all residents of this well-known mining town.<\/p>\n

She indicated that the Tsumeb Municipality caring for less fortunate members of their society is a must, and it is the only way to go if they have to reduce the income inequality gap in our community.<\/p>\n

According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, in an independent Namibia that came through sweat and blood, everyone deserves the best.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is our responsibility as elected leaders to design mechanisms for addressing the challenges facing our people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She added that the Mayoral Relief Fund is aligning with Vision 2030, which among other things calls for a Namibia where social justice is appreciated by all by reducing the gap between the haves and the have-nots.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Nandi-Ndaitwah said that this is also an inspiration elaborated in the Harambee Prosperity Plan, under the pillar of \u2018Social Progression,\u2019 whereby the Government is reaffirming its responsibility to take care of those in need and to create a conducive environment for all to succeed.<\/p>\n
