Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The 33rd commemoration of Heroes Day, originally planned for Omuthiya in the Oshikoto region, has been relocated to Windhoek. This change in venue was announced on Monday by Audrin Mathe, the executive director of information and communication technology.<\/p>\n

Mathe explained that the decision to move the commemoration to Windhoek was prompted by the state visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudes, who has been graciously invited as the guest of honour by President Hage Geingob.<\/p>\n

Mathe extended a warm invitation on behalf of the government to Namibians from all corners of the country, encouraging them to gather in significant numbers to remember the selfless acts of sacrifice. He emphasized the significance of this commemoration in fostering pride, nurturing patriotism, and reinforcing the sense of duty towards the nation.<\/p>\n

Heroes Day, observed as a national public holiday in Namibia, marks the remembrance of the Namibian War of Independence, which commenced on August 26, 1966. This significant day is also referred to as Namibia Day.<\/p>\n

The commemorative event in Windhoek is scheduled to be held at the Independence Stadium on August 26th. The program will encompass a military parade, addresses by governmental dignitaries, and captivating cultural performances.<\/p>\n

The government is earnestly appealing to Namibians to unite and actively participate in this Heroes Day commemoration. Through their attendance, they will honour the valiant heroes and heroines who valiantly fought for the country\u2019s liberation.<\/p>\n

Mathe emphasized, \u201cWe implore all Namibians to stand together in solidarity, jointly celebrating this momentous day as a united nation. Let us reflect upon the sacrifices made for our liberty and ardently recommit ourselves to constructing a brighter future that encompasses all Namibians.\u201d<\/p>\n
