Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Amarok Club Namibia continues to grow in leaps and bounds. The non-profitable organisation, which was started in 2016 by a group of VW Amarok owners, has grown into a formidable club, which places a huge premium on road safety initiatives as well as charity events.<\/p>\n

The club recently held its annual general meeting (AGM) at Otjiwa Lodge in the Otjozondjupa region where registered members demonstrated their commitment to the club by travelling from all corners of the country at their own cost.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main objective of the motor club is to be a socially responsible club that give back to the needy across all corners of Namibia and advocate for responsible driving, road safety to its members and other road users on Namibian roads and abroad,\u201d the club said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Over the last financial year, the group which has a membership of 162 members, has been involved in numerous activities and projects. The club donated 35% of the membership fees for the 2020\/2021 to various beneficiaries in Tsumkwe, Rehoboth, Swakopmund, Rundu and Otjiwarongo.<\/p>\n

The club also participated in road safety awareness campaigns with the objective of promoting road safety among motorists on Namibian roads. Other initiatives include facilitating training to club members on fatigue management and vehicle maintenance as well as partnering with the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund, SA Consultants and Insurance Brokers, Autohaus Namibia, Global Parts and Pupkewitz Von Baum\u2019s Volkswagen on discounted services and driver awareness perks to club members.<\/p>\n

To demonstrate its caring attitude, the club along with the MVA Fund donated sanitary products and cleaning material to the tune of N$13 000 to the Paresis High School in Otjiwarongo following an appeal from the school on 5 November this year.<\/p>\n

Newly elected club chairperson Edwin Kamatoto expressed gratitude to all sponsors and partners of the Amarok Club, while appealing to members to continuously play the role of road safety ambassadors.<\/p>\n

On its part, the MVA Fund underscored the need to conduct targeted interventions, with special focus on young people who form part of the Amarok Club Namibia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis initiative is generally aimed at encouraging them to participate in road safety promotion and most importantly to be risk averse in as far as road traffic crashes are concerned,\u201d said the MVA Fund.<\/p>\n

Another partner Global Parts also said it was extremely pleased to be associated with the Amarok Club Namibia. Global Parts cc will provide a preferential pricing to Amarok club members and complement its extensive range of Amarok service parts with engine parts too.<\/p>\n

The partnership provides also for mutual social engagement and in this regard joint social initiative can be expected in future. \u201cI am impressed with the social values and ethnic values of the Amarok club members and we share the love for Namibia and all citizens, so it is a perfect match,\u201d said Global Parts owner Jurgen Hecht.<\/p>\n
