Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) has announced its first-ever oil and gas seminar, scheduled to take place on 11 and 12 September 2023 at the Namibia University of Science & Technology (Nust). However, due to an overwhelming response from potential participants, the corporation yesterday stated that the event has reached full capacity.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince the unveiling of the Namcor Race to First Oil, the response has been overwhelming, with a remarkable surge in participation. Regrettably, we find ourselves in a position where the event has reached full capacity owing to the limitations of the venue. We extend our sincere apologies to those who were unable to secure a spot. To ensure that no one misses out on the enriching experience we have prepared, we encourage the public to connect with us on our social media platforms. We will be offering a live stream of the event, allowing you to engage with the insightful discussions and valuable insights shared during the seminar,\u201d reads a Namcor statement.<\/p>\n

With a resolute focus on fostering engagement and participation among the youth, professionals, and the general public, the seminar is expected to delve into the fundamental aspects of the oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n

The event is anticipated to provide invaluable insights into a wide spectrum of topics, encompassing the essentials of hydrocarbon formation and the upstream petroleum lifecycle. The seminar will also feature comprehensive presentations spotlighting the Namibian upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, including to encapsulate a myriad benefits and opportunities that accompany oil discoveries. This is to underscore the profound impact of recent discoveries on the nation, the business landscape, and the individual citizens.<\/p>\n

The corporation noted that over 780 entities expressed interest in participating in the seminar, reflecting tremendous public enthusiasm for the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe seminar embodies the company\u2019s steadfast commitment to fostering public education and discourse around the immense potential that the energy sector bestows upon the country. This seminar provides an exceptional platform for students, as well as members of the general public from diverse backgrounds, to not only gain insights into current events and concepts but also directly engage with our accomplished executives and specialists,\u201d said Shiwana Ndeunyema, Namcor\u2019s acting managing director.<\/p>\n

Mines and energy minister Tom Alweendo is expected at the event while Namcor board chairperson Jennifer Comalie is scheduled to inaugurate the seminar.<\/p>\n

The seminar builds upon numerous high- level engagements, highlighting the industry\u2019s critical importance and potential.<\/p>\n

Under its exploration business segment, Namcor plays an active role in exploring for oil and gas resources, alongside other energy opportunities. These efforts are executed through strategic collaborations with international energy majors, both within Namibia and beyond its borders. In the realm of development and production, the company seeks to secure oil-producing assets in stable jurisdictions across the world. This aligns with Namcor\u2019s overarching mandate of ensuring energy security while also safeguarding the company\u2019s long-term sustainability.
