Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>DR. Riaan Eksteen, renowned for his contributions to international diplomacy and literature, recently donated a number of books to the Parliament Library.<\/p>\n

The donated books, which were received by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, cover a range of genres, including political science, autobiographies, and memoirs. This includes books such as \u201cThe Search for Peace\u201d by Douglas Hurd, \u201cChurchill: The End of Glory\u201d by John Charmley, and \u201cHigh Noon in Southern Africa\u201d by Chester Crocker.<\/p>\n

Katjavivi expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting that the books are an invaluable contribution to the Parliament Library. He emphasized that they will provide lawmakers and library users with an exceptional opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of the world.<\/p>\n

The donated books reflect Eksteen\u2019s passion for politics, diplomacy, and literature. His book, \u201cBeyond Diplomacy,\u201d which was released last year, is further evidence of this.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond Diplomacy\u201d details Eksteen\u2019s experience as South Africa\u2019s inaugural ambassador to Namibia and his general diplomatic career, which started in Washington, the United States of America.<\/p>\n

As detailed in his book, Eksteen served as South Africa\u2019s youngest ambassador under the leadership of John Vorster, Pieter Willem Botha, Frederik Willem de Klerk, and Nelson Mandela. Furthermore, he also assumed the role of Head of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) after his tenure as ambassador to the United Nations (UN) in New York and played a significant role in Namibia\u2019s pre- and post-independence periods.<\/p>\n
