Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>GIDEON ‘The Amphibian Namibian’ Nasilowski’s daring Robben Island Challenge ended short of the intended target due to bad weather off the Cape’s coast today.<\/b><\/p>\n

Para-swimmer Nasilowski planned to tackle a 7,5-kilometre swim from Robben Island to Bloubergstrand in South Africa, as part of his ongoing awareness campaign for disability in Namibia and beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, the weather did not play along with us today. The wind and swell were just to[o] strong and Gideon was not moving forward for more than 40 minutes,\u201d said a post on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cA call was made to end the swim plus\/minus 3km from Big Bay, as Gideon and Buff were just moving more and more north and not forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn total, Gideon swam 9,7 km in 5 hours, 21 minutes and 56 seconds, [which is] still an amazing effort and achievement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not the end, we shall try again and keep an eye on The Amphibian Namibian in future.<\/p>\n
