Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Jonas Kandiwapa Mwonde, a police officer from Ndama sub-station in Rundu who was arrested last week for allegedly shooting a civilian, was denied bail on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Mwonde (45) made his debut appearance in the Rundu Magistrate\u2019s Court before magistrate Selma Shiiga.<\/p>\n

The prosecution is charging Mwonde with a count of attempted murder for allegedly shooting Frans Kambinda Ndara (35).<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on 1 October at a bar in Ngcangcana village, south of Rundu when Mwonde was off-duty.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that Mwonde used his service weapon \u2013 a Macarov pistol \u2013 to shoot Ndara. The weapon has since been seized and will be used as an exhibit in the case.<\/p>\n

The court postponed the case to 7 December for further Investigation and for Mwonde to acquire legal representation.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor, Michael Munika represented the State in the matter.<\/p>\n
