Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>South African president Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit president Hage Geingob on Friday during the bi-national commission between the two countries in Windhoek.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Tuesday, press secretary Alfredo Hengari said they will co-chair one of the segments of the commission.<\/p>\n

\u201c… Which the two leaders had agreed to convene in Namibia on the occasion of the state visit of president Geingob to the Republic of South Africa on 20 April 2023,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

In April, the two presidents announced plans to cooperate on the development of a green hydrogen economy to benefit both countries.<\/p>\n

The statement noted that the commission will review cooperation in a wide range of areas, including diplomatic and legal, economic, social, and defence and security.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will also serve as an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen the bonds of friendship by assessing the progress made in implementing the decisions of their bi-national commission.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the ministerial side of the commission, international relations minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and her South African counterpart Naledi Pandor will be at the helm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to strengthen business-business exchanges, on 13 October, a Namibia-South Africa Business Forum will be held on the margins of the bi-national commission. President Geingob and president Ramaphosa will deliver remarks on the occasion of the business forum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Geingob was implicated in the Phala Phala robbery saga that occurred on Ramaphosa\u2019s farm in February 2020, allegedly for abusing his power by treating the Phala Phala robbery as a personal matter.<\/p>\n

However, Hengari has previously denied this, saying the matter was dealt with between senior members of the South African and Namibian Police, with the president being briefed thereafter.<\/p>\n
