Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE 10th International Festival of Freedom of Expression and the Press, held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, awarded Namibia with the prestigious \u201cChampion of Press Freedom in Africa Award.\u201d<\/p>\n

This recognition underscores Namibia\u2019s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the fundamental principles of media freedom and the nation\u2019s tireless efforts to create an environment where journalists can work freely and independently, reporting on critical issues without fear or censorship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Champion of Press Freedom in Africa Award highlights Namibia\u2019s dedication to the ethos of freedom of expression. Its support and encouragement have not only strengthened our nation\u2019s democracy but also positioned it as a model of a free press for many countries in Africa and beyond. Furthermore, Namibia reaffirms its pledge to protect media freedom as enshrined in the Constitution and renews its commitment to fostering a positive and enabling environment for freedom of expression and access to information,\u201d said Roselia Penda, Acting Executive Director of MICT.<\/p>\n

The award was received on behalf of the Government by Audrin Mathe, the Executive Director of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, during a ceremony on Saturday in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n
