Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Aspiring filmmakers, film enthusiasts, film students, and industry professionals in Namibia are in for a cinematic treat, as the Embassy of Brazil in Windhoek prepares to host its very first Brazilian Film Workshop. Taking place from 11-12November, at the College of the Arts, the two-day event promises to provide a unique Brazilian perspective on the art of movie production.<\/p>\n Angelika Schroeder, the Rector of the College of the Arts, expressed her enthusiasm.<\/p>\n \u201cI am delighted to inform you that this major educational event, a master class in the field of cinema, will take place at the College of the Arts Main Campus. The event will commence with an introduction, followed by a screening of the film \u2018Encantados\u2019 and a chance for students and alumni from the College of the Arts to participate in a Q&A session,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n One of the standout features of this workshop is the presence of esteemed director Tizuka Yamasaki, a pioneering figure in Brazilian cinema and one of the first women filmmakers in Brazil to achieve international recognition.<\/p>\n Yamasaki\u2019s career began as an assistant director to renowned Cinema Novo directors, such as Nelson Pereira dos Santos and Glauber Rocha. Over the years, she has challenged norms and aesthetics within Brazilian cinema by increasing the representation of women and shedding light on issues affecting women in Brazilian society.<\/p>\n Her film style delves into historical subjects and uses the genre of melodrama to vividly reconstruct Brazilian politics, history, and culture.<\/p>\n Joining Yamasaki is producer Emanoel Freitas, who boasts a remarkable 37 years artistic career, with 25 years dedicated to executive production in the film industry. His expertise extends to cultural event management, business management, and coaching. Freitas is renowned for his passion and determination in bringing cultural projects to life in theatre, cinema, and audiovisual productions.<\/p>\n The Brazilian Film Workshop promises to be an invaluable experience for all those passionate about the art of filmmaking, offering a unique opportunity to learn from and engage with two distinguished figures in the Brazilian film industry.
