Africa-Press<\/a> – Namibia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>THE Namibian Marshal Rangers (NMR) emergency rescue services will no longer be involved in police affairs or community policing activities, sheriff marshal Sean Naude announced on Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

He said the move was triggered by individuals who are tarnishing the NMR’s name. \u201cNo longer will we allow our good names, hard work or sacrifice to be tarnished by individuals who cause division among ranks. We are an official unit and have our own ranks, mandates and qualifications, and therefore request respect when due,\u201d he said.Naude said the marshal rangers will from now on only be available to security clusters or community policing groups on request. \u201cWe will therefore operate accordingly, distance ourselves from police affairs or community policing, and serve our nation and communities on the level of healthcare and saving lives,\u201d Naude said. He said the NMR was established 25 years ago to serve, protect and offer manpower to security clusters.NMR is a registered emergency rescue response unit with ambulances and other rescue equipment, as well as registered, licensed and authorised personnel in different fields in the Erongo and Khomas regions. They also run a national social media initiative, #NamStrongNA, where they share information and roadside assistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
