Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>A 75-year-old woman, Cecilia Jacoba Coetzee, passed away in the Usakos State Hospital this morning after sustaining severe head injuries in a car accident on the B2 highway. According to Erongo police inspector Ileni Shapumba, the accident happened on Friday around 17:50 approximately 45 km from Usakos.<\/p>\n

Coetzee was travelling alone in the direction of Arandis when she reportedly lost control of the Mitsubishi station wagon she was driving. The car left the road and overturned. She sustained severe head injuries and was taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Her next of kin have been informed of her death. This is the seventh life claimed on the B2 highway in the past ten days. On Thursday 11 November, two people died after an accident about 35 km from Karibib.<\/p>\n

The driver of a Nissan Lafesta with six passengers reportedly lost control over the vehicle when a tyre burst. The car left the road and overturned. One passenger died at the scene and another on the way to hospital.<\/p>\n

On Friday 12 November, four people were killed in a head-on collision while travelling from Windhoek to the coast. The seven-seater Toyota they were travelling in reportedly collided with an Isuzu double cab about 30 km from Usakos.<\/p>\n

With the huge increase of traffic that comes with the festive season, inspector Shapumba once again urged road users to be extremely alert. \u201cWe welcome visitors to the coast but we want them to remain extra cautious while driving. Do not speed and always adhere to all road rules,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
