Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Namibia Volleyball Federation (NVF) has announced the Namibia Defence Force (NDF) A (male) and the Navy (female) volleyball teams will be representing the country at this year\u2019s highly anticipated Zone VI Club Championships.<\/p>\n

The games are scheduled for Maseru, Lesotho, from 7 to 17 December 2023.<\/p>\n

The NVF issued a media release to this publication, congratulating the NDF A and Namibian Navy teams for their remarkable performances during the Bank Windhoek NVF Cup.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the two teams displayed extraordinary talent, along with great skill and sportsmanship, throughout the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir dedication and hard work have rightfully earned them the honour of representing Namibia at the prestigious Zone VI club championships, where they will be expected to battle it out with close to 20 teams from other countries,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

It added Zone 6 consists of Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to express our profound gratitude to the leadership of NDF for their unwavering support and commitment to the development of volleyball in Namibia. Their generous provision of funds will enable NDF A and Namibian Navy teams to participate in this esteemed<\/p>\n

international competition and contribute significantly to the growth and promotion<\/p>\n

of volleyball within the country,\u201d the statement quoted NVF president Hillary Dux Imbuwa.<\/p>\n

The Zone VI Club Championships serve as a platform for teams from across the region to exhibit their ability and compete at an elite level, which is a bigger opportunity for Namibia, whose last participation in the competition was in 2018 in Durban, South Africa. Imbuwa indicated that the NDF and Namibian Navy\u2019s participation exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and the commitment to excellence that define the key objective of Namibian volleyball.<\/p>\n

He further expressed his disappointment that both the Khomas NamPol teams, who are the Namibian champions in both categories, will not be travelling to Lesotho.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have written a letter to the Inspector General\u2019s office, highlighting the momentousness of this event, and we also followed up with another letter a week ago, but we never received any response until the closing date. It is not the first time that the Namibian Police Force has been crowned the Namibian champion and failed to represent the country,\u201d Imbuwa said.<\/p>\n

The NVF concluded the statement by encouraging all supporters to rally behind the Namibian teams as they compete for honours in Maseru, Lesotho.<\/p>\n
