Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region has promoted deserving officers to various ranks for their hard work and commitment during their services.<\/p>\n

This promotion also saw about 50.3% of women being promoted.<\/p>\n

Regional Commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, on Thursday promoted a total of 460 police officers to various ranks.<\/p>\n

Of those promoted, 155 were Sergeant Class 2 and 31 Sergeant Class 1 from the Constable rank, 132 Sergeant Class 1 from the rank of Sergeant Class 2, 22 Warrant Class 2 from the rank of Sergeant Class 2, 60 Warrant Class 2 from the rank of Sergeant Class 1, three Warrant Class 1 from the rank of Sergeant Class 1, 53 Warrant Class 1 from the rank of Warrant Class 2, and four Inspectors from the rank of Warrant Class 2.<\/p>\n

According to Sakaria, these numbers represent 229 male and 231 female officers who got promoted, of which 50.3% represent females.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first round of promotion, and the second round which will follow will include the ranks from Warrant Officer Class 1 (W\/O 1) and above,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the round of promotion only ended at Warrant Class 2.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Sakaria indicated that in their submission, they tried their best to accommodate everybody who was due and deserving; however, a total of 60 members were not considered, and they have already made an appeal regarding this matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should also be known that all members can never be promoted at the same time; therefore, those who are not considered now should continue working hard and improving themselves to be available for future promotions but mostly to maintain discipline,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he added that his office is receiving many issues related to conduct and discipline, and members are charged daily, especially those of lower ranks both departmentally and criminally, and cases are taking too long to solve because some members do not want to cooperate with the investigation.<\/p>\n

Upon resuming his duties as the Regional Commander, Sakaria said he found a high number of dockets pending for decision at the PG\u2019s office or still under investigation at their Police Conduct and Investigation Sub-Division.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, Sakaria said they made it a priority to work on these cases, and within a short period, many cases received attention and got finalized.<\/p>\n\r\n
