FAO spokesperson Phillipus Tobias says the organisation&#8217;s involvement is in response to the ministry&#8217;s request to provide technical assistance for the investigation of fisheries and aquaculture potential.<\/p>\n<p>Tobias says the FAO is also expected to provide management, technical and infrastructure requirements for the sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture at the dam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA task force composed of a small group of people dedicated to the inclusive, equitable and sustainable development of small-scale fisheries at the Neckartal Dam will carry out the assessment,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>The task force includes officials and representatives from the FAO, the fisheries ministry, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, NamWater, the \/\/Kharas regional council, Keetmanshoop municipality, and the Nama Traditional Leaders Association.<\/p>\n<p>The project is titled &#8216;Assessing the Development Potential of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture on the Neckartal Dam in the \/\/Karas Region&#8217;, and emanates from the technical assistance for the sustainable management and development of inland fisheries and aquaculture resources programme in Namibia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\">Namibia<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia.
