{"id":61012,"date":"2024-01-04T16:37:18","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T16:37:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/law-and-order-makes-economy-flourish"},"modified":"2024-01-04T16:47:57","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T16:47:57","slug":"law-and-order-makes-economy-flourish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/law-and-order-makes-economy-flourish","title":{"rendered":"Law and order makes economy flourish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE current conflict is an economic one; therefore, businesspeople need to ensure they are included in steps to safeguard their property.<\/p>\n<p>Conflicts emerge when there is no law and order, which is something that shouldn\u2019t happen, according to Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the business community in Oshakati on Wednesday, Shikongo said that for the economy to flourish, businesspeople are essential.<\/p>\n<p>He also advised people to desist from supporting criminals and refrain from purchasing illicit goods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur own people are the ones that commit crimes. The people that live in our homes are the ones who bring in the drugs. We should take a stance alongside the police and the business community to combat all crimes, including buying stolen products on the street and stock theft,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that, as police officers, they aim to bridge the gap and provide high-quality services to the people of Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>Shikongo stressed that everyone should have a role to play in maintaining safety and security, not just the Namibian Police Force as the sole authority.<\/p>\n<p>Oshana Regional Commander Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria indicated that the concept \u2018boots on the ground\u2019 has managed to curb crime in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Oshana governor Elia Irimari said that engagement provides an excellent opportunity for both the Namibian Police and the business community to share ideas, experiences, and challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI encourage all participants to actively participate in the discussions and contribute your insights and suggestions. Together, we can find innovative solutions to the complex security challenges we face,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasizes that building trust between law enforcement agencies and the business community is crucial to ensure effective collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Irimari then urges the Inspector General and his team to continue fostering an environment of openness and accessibility, where concerns and suggestions from the business community are listened to and acted upon.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, he encouraged the business community to share information and cooperate fully with the police in
