Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>OSHAKATI – The State has referred the case against NEFF Commissar of Economic Development Michael Amushelelo for contravening a court order that instructed him to stay 400 metres from Rani Group shops across the country back to the police for further investigations.<\/p>\n

This comes after his arrest on Monday in Oshakati as he attempted to represent employees who were suspended for taking part in a demonstration late last year for calling for the abolishment of contract labour hire, among others.<\/p>\n

Amushelelo was released from police custody on Monday night and was expected to appear in court yesterday but did not do so as the case has been postponed to an unknown date.<\/p>\n

His lawyer Kadhila Amoomo told New Era that if his client violated any court order, he can simply be summoned to court.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey rather waste state resources behaving like the bodyguards of foreign-owned businesses who are exploiting the labour of our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Oshana police regional commander Naftal Sakaria said Amushelelo contravened a court order that instructed him and the NEFF leadership to stay 400 metres from Rani Group shops across the country.<\/p>\n

He was to face charges of trespassing, among others.<\/p>\n
